Automatic update unavailable, login to WordPress

Occasionally when running plugin updates in Glow, you’ll see the following message:

Automatic update unavailable, login to WordPress

This shows when Glow can’t ‘see’ the Update now link as being available in WordPress for that plugin.

There’s many reasons why the Update now link might not be available and the most common one is when the plugin in question is a premium plugin.

Often premium plugins require license keys and paid subscriptions, both of which can expire. There are also those that come with their own dashboard and require updates to be run there, rather than through the WordPress Plugins screen.

So when you see this message, follow the link to login to WordPress for that website and perform the update manually. Glow will still record the update in Timeline.
